	alised world that we now inhabit. This lecture will provide a detailed ove
	rview of the political\, economic\, social and cultural histories of Latin
	 America prior to colonisation by European powers. These histories should 
	provide greater understanding of the clashes and fusions that occurred in 
	the centuries following the Columbian encounter\, which continue to influe
	nce life across the planet.
