DESCRIPTION:The European Network Remembrance and Solidarity (ENRS) and the 
	National Remembrance Committee (NEB) invite educators\, history teachers\,
	 cultural professionals\, and memorial institution representatives to the 
	international conference and workshops “WWII – 80 Years After: Challenges 
	for Historical Education and Commemoration”\, held on 2–3 June 2025 at Eöt
	vös Loránd University (ELTE)\, Budapest.\n\nMarking the 80th anniversary o
	f the end of WWII\, the event explores how to address war crimes\, genocid
	e\, occupation\, imprisonment\, forced labor\, and displacement in histori
	cal education. A key focus is on engaging younger generations with no pers
	onal link to these events. Participants will examine current challenges\, 
	share best practices\, and explore innovative teaching and commemoration m
	ethods.\n\nThe conference includes panels\, workshops\, and cultural progr
	ams:\n\nDebates:\n\n“WWII Memory between East and West” – A discussion on 
	divergent WWII narratives across Europe.\n\n“Think Outside the Classroom” 
	– Experts explore 21st-century approaches to teaching WWII.\n\nTheatre Per
	formance: “Placid or a Game with the Death”\, about Hungarian Gulag surviv
	or Placid Olofsson\, directed by Bendegúz Bezezédi.\n\nLecture & Workshop:
	 “From the Personal Story to the Great European Narratives” – On using per
	sonal stories in teaching history.\n\nFilm Screening & Discussion: ENRS do
	cumentary “Sound in the Silence” followed by a talk on creative education 
	beyond the classroom.\n\nWorkshops for Educators:\n\n“The Power of Individ
	ual Stories in History Teaching” – Using testimonies to enrich learning.\n
	\n“How to Prepare Students for Memorial Site Visits” – Best practices for 
	meaningful engagement.\n\nThe conference will be conducted in English and 
	Hungarian.
