This webinar explore s Slovakia’s Declaration of Independence and the specific way sovereignty was asserted during the peaceful breakup of Czechoslovakia – and it was no t the first time in history. The session offers historical context useful for teaching nationalism\, national myths\, state formation\, and independ ence movements.\n\nMaja studied History and Aesthetics at Comenius Univers ity in Bratislava\, Slovakia and has experience with both formal and infor mal education as well as curriculum design and teaching materials developm ent. She is a former history teacher\, oral history documentarist of the d issidents from the period of the State Socialism in Czechoslovakia and his tory workshop lecturer\, and currently works for National Institute of Edu cation and Youth – the agency of the Ministry of Education in Slovakia as a History and Social Studies. She also represents Slovakia in the Observat ory for History Teaching in Europe by the Council of Europe and cooperates with Euroclio.
