Holocaust Education: Sources and Learning Scenarios for History Educators.

Abstract of the publication

Aim of the current paper is the presentation of sources History Educators may use to develop their own learning scenarios, tailored to their students' needs and interests. Indicatively, the following open-access sources will be presented: i. Search Culture: the Collections of the Jewish Museum of Greece; ii. Archives of the National Bank of Greece Cultural Foundation (MIET); iii. The Deportations of Jews Research Project and Digital Database("Transports to Extinction"), Yad Vashem; iv. Holocaust Encyclopedia & Experiencing History, Holocaust Sources in Context, both developed by the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum; v. Blavatnik Archive; vi. Centre for Holocaust Education of the United Kingdom; vii. International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) Tools and Resources. The paper will conclude with two example learning scenarios which will be based on the presented sources. These scenarios will refer on the deportation operations of the Jews from Crete and Eastern Macedonia and Thrace. The paper was presented at 10th Conference of the Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences in Greece in 2024 and has been published at the conference proceedings.
