Abstract of the publication
The handbook Learning from the Past, Acting for the Future – An Interdisciplinary Approach to Holocaust, Human Rights, and Intercultural Education is now available in 9 languages. It offers an innovative teaching approach that supports the development of competences for democratic culture, aligning perfectly with the Council of Europe’s RFCDC. Combining Holocaust education, human rights education, and intercultural education, the handbook helps students connect the past with the present and fosters democratic and inclusive societies. Using a human rights lens, the methodology explores how the Holocaust became possible, how propaganda functioned, and how rights were progressively stripped from Jews, Roma and others. It also encourages students to act against human rights violations today, to challenge populist narratives and promote democratic values. Available in English, Albanian, Bulgarian, Croatian, Italian, Romanian, Serbian, Slovakian, Ukrainian, with more to come!
