Description
One of the main problems of history teaching and history textbooks is that they have traditionally been overloaded with political history content. Over-focusing on the activities of kings, emperors, battles and politicians in history teaching since school has formed more one-sided, narrow perceptions and understandings of history. In the 20th and 21st centuries, new historiographical directions were developed, such as the history of everyday life, microhistory, history of emotions, environmental history, etc., which study human daily life, lifestyle, forms of economic, social relations, climate changes, even emotions, feelings, diseases, etc.. The use of such contents in history textbooks and teaching can make history multi-perspective, live, illustrative, and also provide an opportunity to develop interdisciplinary connections. In this presentation I will try to present the following points. What kind of historical content can be included in history textbooks and history teaching to balance the prevalence of political history? What kind of effective assignments and projects can be made using different historical content combining with the historical thinking concepts?
