Description

An engaging panel discussion on “Memorials and Education: Connecting the Past and Present” hosted by Terraforming with guests from the UK and Israel, as well as experts and representatives of local Jewish and Roma communities from Serbia. Topics: 1) Contemporary challenges in teaching and learning about the Holocaust and the persecution and genocide of the Roma; 2) The role of contemporary Holocaust memorials in education, strengthening competencies for democratic culture, and confronting Holocaust distortion; Panelists: - Martin Winstone (UK), Senior Historical Advisor to the Holocaust Educational Trust and project historian for the United Kingdom Holocaust Memorial and Learning Centre, current Chair of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance IHRA Working Group for Education; - Sandra Rosenfeld (Israel), Holocaust educator with over ten years of experience in the E-Learning Department at the Yad Vashem International School for Holocaust Studies and Project Manager of the Interactive EHRI Online Course in Holocaust Studies; - Krinka Vidaković Petrov, (Serbia) Director of Memorial Center “Staro Sajmiste” and member of the IHRA delegation of the Republic of Serbia; - Filip Belevski, (Serbia) President of the Youth Club of the Jewish Community of Belgrade; - Bratislav Mitrović, (Serbia) Director of the European Roma Institute for Arts and Culture ERIAC Serbia; Moderators: - Miško Stanišić (Serbia) Director of Terraforming, member of the IHRA delegation of the Republic of Serbia, Chair of the IHRA Project team on developing Recommendations on Teaching and Learning about the Persecution and Genocide of the Roma during the Nazi Era; - Nevena Bajalica (Serbia) Terraforming, IHRA delegation of the Republic of Serbia
