Description
Living Memorials: When Memory Inspires European Youth Living Memorials: {Re}vitalize Digital History! is a European artistic and civic project that invites young people to explore the memory of the 20th century through creative, collaborative and digital practices. Designed for students, teachers and citizens, the project offers an innovative approach to history and memory, addressing contemporary challenges and the spread of hate speech online. Based on the MATRIX–Metaphor X artistic method developed by Berlin-based artist Roman Kroke, and a collaborative audiovisual process led by Belgian filmmaker André Bossuroy, the project fosters critical thinking, artistic expression and civic engagement among European youth. On 21 January at 2:00 pm, at Château Flers-Bourg, a public presentation will showcase the documentary film produced during the project, along with an innovative educational application. The app brings together digital tools and tutorials created from the artistic work of students from Belgium, Germany and France, and is designed for teachers, educators and cultural mediators. Supported by the European Commission, Living Memorials is carried out by three partner organisations: the Société Historique de Villeneuve d’Ascq (France), Mediel (Belgium) and Opladener Geschichtsverein von 1979 e.V. Leverkusen (Germany).
