Description

This exhibition pays tribute to ten exceptional women who contributed to the development of the Europe we know today. Resistance fighters and Holocaust survivors, outstanding professionals in the political, scientific and cultural fields, these women inspired the European Union of today. Many of them worked to put an end to the horrors of the two world wars and promoted the fundamental values of the EU, both within the European institutions themselves and through political activism. Some of them have even gone on to preside over the European Parliament, setting an example of leadership and commitment. All have defended the European values of equality, freedom, democracy, solidarity, diversity and respect for human rights. The exhibition opened in May 2023 in the historic building of the University of Barcelona. It is currently travelling to a number of universities in Catalonia and, with this French version, is starting its European tour. This travelling exhibition can be seen in Le Tremblay-sur-Mauldre, then in Jouars-Pontchartrain and finally in Les Mesnuls (78). The exhibition was conceived in collaboration with: - L'EUROM (European Observatory on Memories), by Fondation Solidarité de l'Universié de Barcelone - European Parliament Liaison Office in Barcelona - Artist Pierre Marquès Curators: Oriol López-Badell and Sergi Barrera Documentation and texts: Laura Manzi and Andrea Carrera Proofreading and translation: Subtil and EPLO Barcelona Design and graphics: Pierre Marquès
