About me

I studied Classics and German Literature from the National Kapodistrian University of Athens. I further pursued studies in History and Ethnology at the Humboldt Universität zu Berlin, where I obtained an M.A. degree in Psycholinguistics. Later on received my M.Sc. degree in "Tourism Planning, Management and Policy" and my PhD in "Heritage Asset Management in the Recreational Learning Environment" from the University of the Aegean. I am fluent in English and German, proficient in French, Italian and Russian and have basic knowledge of Turkish. So far, I have designed and implemented 46 EU co-funded projects for digital culture, museums and tourism with a total budget of 19.996.302,51€. I am an active researcher with over 250 refereed publications. I work as adjunct lecturer at the OPEN UNIVERSITY OF CYPRUS, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Postgraduate Programme "Cultural Policy and Management". Between 2019-2023 I taught at the Department of "Tourism Economics and Management" (TODIT), School of Management Sciences, UNIVERSITY OF THE AEGEAN. I currently serve as an elected EUROPEANA Councilor. I participate in EUROPEANA Pro and Education Communities, EUROCLIO, HISTORIANA, the EURO-ASIA TOURISM STUDIES ASSOCIATION, and the EU PACT FOR SKILLS. I am a founding member of INTERPET EUROPE for heritage interpretation. My interests evolve around cultural management, heritage documentation, cultural interpretation and the design for participatory experiences in recreational settings, including cultural communication with the public, digital culture, and tourism. I am currently serving as the Treasurer of the SYNDESIS Alumni Association, University of the Aegean, and as an Advisor to the EATSA President.
