About me
Specialist in Digital Humanities, Digital History, Citizen Science and republican exile. I have participated in 15 research projects, 6 of them international, and have been the Principal Investigator (PI) in 3. These projects marked the beginning of my specialization in Digital Humanities and the methodology of Citizen Science, applied to research in contemporary history. In this way, I became one of the pioneers in Spain in the use and analysis of the crowdsourcing technique in the discipline of History, which I have been implementing for more than 13 years through the e-xiliad@s project (exiliadosrepublicanos.info/). Furthermore, since 2019, I have been mapping and analyzing humanities/history projects, both nationally and internationally, which apply participatory processes through data mining, Social Network Analysis (SNA), and open data. I carry out this work through two funded research projects of which I am the PI: Co-Historia and Crowdsourcing in History (cohistoria.es/). This social collaboration in research, along with an extensive dissemination and communication strategy, has led to receiving the award from the Association of Hispanic Digital Humanities for the "Best participation/presence in social media with the e-xiliad@s project" in 2020. I am a founding member of the UGR's Center for Computational Humanities and Social Sciences (U-CHASS) in 2023, where specialists from different disciplines of the UGR collaborate to promote DH at the University and carry out joint research and training projects. Author and co-autor of around 50 scientific works, in which I have methodologically analyzed DH (and Digital History), focusing on SNA in written documents and social networks, digital identities, citizen science, and history of exile. I have also conducted 57 teaching courses and/or seminars at the UGR but also internationally in collaboration with universities in Germany (FSU), Ireland (UCC), France (UP1), Italy (UNIPD), Colombia (UMNG), and Cuba (CUJAE).
