Description
The seminar on "Migrations in the 20th century and their consequences - ways forward for history lessons within a European context" addresses the challenges posed by Europeanization and globalization in the 21st century. It aims to prepare the younger generations for a multi-ethnic, mobile society by fostering understanding, eradicating irrational fears and judgments, and promoting tolerance. The seminar focuses on the historical dimension of migration, seeking to make it a more prominent subject in history teaching and develop innovative teaching approaches for pupils aged 14-17. It also emphasizes the European dimension of the theme in history teaching. The results of the seminar will be incorporated into a teaching pack on "Population movements in Europe in the 20th century" as part of the Council of Europe project on learning and teaching about the history of Europe in the 20th century, with the goal of enhancing history education in a European context.
