Description
The seminar was a collaborative effort between the Albanian Ministry of Education and Science and the Council of Europe, with over 30 participants, including various stakeholders in education. The seminar aimed to discuss the history curriculum in Albania, assess the needs of history teachers and trainers for training, review existing history textbooks for potential improvements, and identify areas that could benefit from a reform in history teaching. The event included presentations by Albanian specialists in history teaching and experts invited by the Council of Europe, with discussions carried out in working groups. Ms. Fatmiroshe Xhemali and Ms. Alison Cardwell provided welcoming remarks and insights into the state of history education in Albania, emphasizing its role in promoting values like tolerance, peace, and independent thinking, while fighting against prejudice, hatred, and violence. Council of Europe specialists also shared experiences from other European countries in history curriculum, textbook development, and teacher training.
