Description

How to Introduce Gender in History Teaching is a resource for working with the theme of gender when teaching history in school, with a particular focus on the context of Cyprus. The book includes a historiography of women’s and gender history in Cyprus with reference to both the Greek and Turkish communities. It also presents research on the language and content of existing curricula, textbooks and teaching materials. Furthermore, it includes eight lesson plans on themes in women’s and gender history which can be directly implemented by teachers in the classroom. The book aims to tackle the absence of women in school history curricula by encouraging teachers and students to learn about women's contributions and societal roles throughout history. Through this, the resource promotes a more analytical approach to studying history based on an inclusive, multifaceted view of the past.
