Description
ENGLISH (French and Dutch below) Parallel Histories offers a new way to study the history of conflict – history which is still contested, controversial and relevant. Our teaching methodology challenges students to examine the source evidence and debate alternative interpretations before coming to their own view. These are skills which prepare young people with to become active citizens in healthy pluralistic democracies. Our teaching method is three steps; first, introduce students to the history of a conflict by exploring that history through its competing narratives, second, use lesson time for the students to learn exploring sources and third, develop students’ ability to create historical arguments through discussion and debate. Our videos are designed to be easy to use for teachers and students and are accessible on desktops, laptops, tablets and mobiles. All you need to do is sign-up and login to access our educational resources. Educational Resources: Scheme of Work structure and content Each scheme of work is structured by week and within each week there is always (i) an interactive video explaining the history as two competing narratives (ii) a source booklet with at least 20 pieces of evidence of varying difficulty, and (iii) a lesson plan with suggested source-based activities.
