Description

Raul Cârstocea looks at how the experiences of more "ordinary people" can be included in historical research. He looks at those who have focused on a more democratic version of history, in particular the works and writings of E.P Thompson, who became concerned not just with ‘great men’ (for it was overwhelmingly men) and their ‘great deeds’, but with the rich tapestry of lived experience in past societies. Approaches such as Thompson's changed how contemporary research views social history, and offers a more nuanced and complete picture of the past, especially the lives of those who were often not included in history classes.
