European Innovation Days in History Education

The European Innovation Days in History Education is the annual main event organised by HISTOLAB which showcases innovative ideas on how to improve, or revolutionise, the teaching of history across Europe. The event brings together history teachers, academics, researchers, practitioners, junior professionals, and students all in the field of history education to engage with one another on ideas previously submitted through an open call, or by attending the side events organised by the HISTOLAB partner organisations.

The other themes,

“How can local history be connected to wider historical events on a European or global level?"

"How can new technology and digitalisation be used in history education?”

helped to shape the selection of projects to take part in the event, and the criteria for the HISTOLAB Award for Innovative School Projects in History Education as well.

Each year, the Innovation Days comprises both project presentations and workshops, to allow for more interactive sessions between the speakers and the participants. This year, the workshops covered teaching history through the use of Lego, Sport, music, graphic novels, e-learning materials, social media content and historical architecture.
