About us

The Olga Lengyel Institute for Holocaust Studies and Human Rights (TOLI) is a leading organization dedicated to advancing Holocaust and human rights education through professional development for teachers in Europe, the United States, and beyond. In Europe, TOLI provides training and post-training support to educators, equipping them with the competences to teach these complex topics in meaningful ways. Through annual national seminars in over 15 countries, organized in partnership with local and international organizations, TOLI fosters an interdisciplinary approach that combines Holocaust, human rights, and intercultural education. Teachers are encouraged to explore historical memory, recognize links between past and present, and contribute to building democratic and inclusive societies. Seminar alumni have the opportunity to access TOLI’s Impact Grant Program, which enables them to develop educational projects with students, promoting collaboration, innovation and sustained engagement. To further support educators, TOLI has published a comprehensive handbook “Learning from the Past, Acting for the Future – An Interdisciplinary Approach to Holocaust, Human Rights and Intercultural Education” available in over 10 languages: www.toli.us/european-seminar-handbooks/. Every year, the most active teachers from across Europe are invited to a transnational seminar, while regular webinars in various languages are organized throughout the year to strengthen TOLI’s vibrant educator network, fostering exchange and innovation in the field. In the United States, TOLI conducts annual regional seminars and a Leadership Seminar for teachers who serve as ambassadors for Holocaust education.
